ADD: Top 5 - Ice Cream Treats

Average Disney Dude: Ice Cream Treats
By Aljon Go

Greetings foodies and Disney fans! If you have a sweet tooth like myself this month's list will leave your taste buds craving the creamy, sweet and smooth dessert treat - ice cream. I'm one of those people who can eat ice cream year 'round no matter where I am. When coming to a Disney Park there is nothing like having a cone full of flavor while strolling down Main Street U.S.A. or having a tall cup to refresh you while you're waiting to see Fantasmic! So without any further delay here's this month's Top 5 list!

#5 Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bar

It may not be the tastiest, or the sweetest but it is the most iconic. What's not to love about this mouse-eared treat on a stick. Did you know that the recommended way to eat this treat starts with eating the ears off first? Of course you did! It makes perfect sense. If you don't you may find a not-so-hidden Mickey on the ground or worse - your shirt!

#4 Farmer’s Market Sundae - Catal, Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort

This elegant, mouth-watering creation consists of balsamic ice cream with mint granita and mascarpone mousse. And yes, even though it looks like art it tastes like a dreamy dessert!

#3 Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake - 50's Prime Time Cafe

"Some people come just to get the peanut butter and jelly milk shake," says Disney cast member David Mitchell, who has served up his share of the cooling, tastebuds-caressing treat.

For guests it's a trip down memory lane at the end of a straw - only the old peanut butter and jelly sandwiches mom made were never this yummy. It all happened quite by accident, recalled one member of the food and beverage team that launched 50s Prime Time with the opening of the park in 1989. Their charge: come up with a 1950s-inspired menu. "We had a swirled jelly and peanut butter product we used on the sandwiches, he remembers. We were experimenting with milk shakes in the kitchen and wondered what would happen if we dropped in a spoonful and blended it with ice cream. With a few refinements, the signature peanut butter and jelly shake was born."

#2 The Kitchen Sink - Beaches and Cream

Looking for the ultimate Walt Disney World sweet indulgence? The legendary Kitchen Sink dessert at Beaches and Cream at Disney's Beach Club Resort is a gargantuan bowl, er, kitchen sink, overflowing with sugary treats!

...And finally the moment you've been waiting for! Number one on this month's Average Disney Dude Top 5 list is...

#1 Dole Whip - Walt Disney World (at Aloha Isle in the Magic Kingdom,
and Captain Cook's at the Polynesian Resort) and Disneyland

If you took a Family Feud style poll of 100 die hard Disney park fans the Dole Whip Soft Serve Pineapple Float (a.k.a. The Dole Whip) will most likely be the number one answer on the board. You can choose between pineapple, vanilla, orange or swirl soft serve mixed with the sweet nectar of Dole pineapple juice! I love the vanilla soft serve with the pineapple combo. If you feel gutsy try the pineapple soft serve with coke for a very interesting float!

Wow am I hungry!

That's this month's list for you. I hope you've enjoyed this list. Please share this article on your Facebook or Twitter page and leave comments below! Have a very magical month and until next time keep it real!
