Recipe: Poached Pears with Bay Leaf

Pearville Fair was located outside of the American Adventure Pavilion and featured this recipe at the 2008 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.

Recipe
4 Ripe USA Pears (Anjou or Bosc) pears, peeled
2 bay leaves
½ cup water
1 1/2 cups orange juice
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tsp nutmeg
Fresh bay leaf to garnish
  1. Combine orange juice, water, brown sugar, bay leaves and nutmeg in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring well to mix. 
  2. Add pears. Cook over high heat to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Discard bay leaves. 
  3. Serve Anjou pears with juice in individual bowls. Garnish with bay leaves.
