The next time you’re touring the Magic Kingdom and looking for an afternoon cocktail try hopping on the monorail and heading over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Located just off the lobby you will find one of the more intimate and overlooked lounges in the entire “world”: The Bar at the Wave Restaurant.
As you enter the restaurant you immediately notice the beauty and distinctive atmosphere. The dark walls, dim house lighting, and bright neon blue highlights transform you from Orlando, FL to swanky New York, NY in a matter of minutes.
So what about the drinks? The Wave has arguably one of the best and unique wine menus on property. You may be wondering what’s so unique about wine. The Wave makes every effort to “be organic” and they don’t stop at the food. From time to time, wine that is bottled with cork can be “tainted” due to pesticides, chlorine, or peroxide during the bottling process. For this reason the Wave has made the decision to feature screw top bottles of wine only.
BEER!
The Wave features some of the best draft beer on property. The Abita Brewing Company located in Louisiana is featured on multiple taps offering everything from a raspberry “fruit beer” (purple haze) to a “dark brown” ale (turbodog). If these strong hoppy beers aren’t your thing then I highly recommend one of the Certified Organic offerings from Orlando Brewing Company. The O.B.C. offers a blonde ale, Porter, and a Pale ale on tap. If you can’t decide which beer you want I highly recommend the Beer Flight for around $9.
