ADD: Top 5 Places for Beer Flights at Walt Disney World!

Average Disney Dude: Top 5 Places for Beer Flights on
Walt Disney World Property!
By Aljon Go
This month's manly pursuit's theme is beer, specifically the best places to find beer flights at Walt Disney World. Beer, or as I refer to it, "nectar of the gods", tastes especially good on Disney property. Perhaps it's all that money you spend on your Disney vacation. Anyhow... Beer flights usually consist of 4-5 small glasses of beers progressing from light to dark. It's great way to sample various flavors of beer offered around the resort and find one you like the best. Here are my Top 5. Enjoy!

#5 - The Wave

The Wave at Disney's Contemporary Resort is known for their use use organic ingredients and trendy cocktails. What you may not know is the fact they have a three glass organic beer sampler. The Organic Three Beer Flight, features a sample of three locally brewed organic beers; Blonde Ale, Pale Ale, and Blackwater Dry Porter.

#4 -Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant

As mentioned in my previous Top 5 Raglan Road in Downtown Disney is one of my favorite places to have a pint - or two. Ireland is known for the production of some of the world's best stouts (dark beer made using roasted malt or barley, hops, water, and yeast) and ales (beer that tends to be full-bodies. Raglan has two flights to choose from and Kristen and I have had the pleasure of sampling their flights several times. Try the flight with Harp Lager (classic pale, crisp and dry) and Smithwicks (red hue, smooth and bitter).

#3 -Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room

I love the UK Pavilion at Epcot! They have some killer beer and their flights have something to be desired by even the most picky beer drinker. Try Boddington's Ale (smooth and creamy), Bass Ale (clear and crisp), Murphy's Stout (Kristen's favorite, creamy with a nice bite) and my personal favorite, Guinness (ahh... embrace of the dark side).

#2 -Big River Grille

The Big River Grille on Disney's Boardwalk is often times overlooked for a place to have a nice meal and a beer. In recent years reviews of the food have been lackluster, however the thing that makes patrons very happy is the selection of craft beer. Try a flight featuring the Southern Flyer Light Lager, Gadzooks Pilsner, Big River Pale Ale and Rocket Red Ale.  Many of these fine quaffs won awards at Denver’s Great American Beer Festival.

#1 - Biergarten

The Germans know beer and they have wonderful flights of beer! Hork down some sausage and some kraut while washing it down with the "Brewer's Collection" flight featuring  Altenmunster Oktoberfest (light brown, caramel and smooth) and Radeberger Pilsner (golden hue and hoppy). I guarantee you won't think twice about doing the "Chicken Dance" afterward!

Until next time, keep it real!

  5. I'm actually going to disagree with the Big River Grill. Though the beer is okay, I am not a fan of the restaurant its self. I don't know what I would use to replace it, personally I'd like to see more draft beer on property. Wouldn't a beer flight round the world program be cool? A small souvenir glass you purchase at any pavilion and a card to use at any pavilion as a "select your own" beer flight program? Just a thought...
