So what did I do?
Well, I posed the question to my friends on Twitter and came up with plenty of responses. I wish I had time to try them all but unfortunately there aren't enough days for that. So I went with the recommendation from @LaurenIsMyGirl for Mi Cocina in Galleria Dallas located right next to the ice rink with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the middle of it. The food was good and the margarita refreshing and just what I needed before heading downtown to see the Dallas Stars take on the Minnesota Wild. Yes, I did wear my Nashville Predators jersey!
After trying Tex-Mex I had to try some BBQ so tonight I went with a recommendation from @Thackman for Sonny Bryant's BBQ Smokehouse. There was no one in this place and it was only 7:00 pm. I was surprised and a little worried. I asked the girl who took my order what the restaurant was known for and she said "It's brisket." and suggested the sandwich plate. I ordered that with a side of BBQ beans and onion rings. It was very food. The slices of brisket had a nice smoky flavor and you could even see the smoke ring on the meat. It was a nice cut of meat with no fat, just perfect.
As for my thoughts... they are both restaurants that I'd return to. However, when I do return to Dallas... I'll probably have to try something different and new.
