Review: Wine Country Trattoria

Wine Country Trattoria is located in the Golden State of Disney’s California Adventure. It sits up off of the main walkway amidst grape vines and behind the Blue Sky Cellar. Originally I had booked this restaurant so that we could sit outside on their patio and watch the Pixar Play Parade. However, it was extremely hot outside so we opted to sit inside. We had a 4:30 PS reservation and were seated right away. Once we entered we realized that we didn’t even need to make one. It was completely empty!

We decided to start off with a bottle of Italian pinot grigio wine. I would have chosen a red but it was hot and we wanted something refreshing. While we looked over the menu our server brought us some breadsticks. We started off our meals with the House Salad, garden greens and Roma tomatoes, topped with shredded cheese and croutons ($3.49). I went with the creamy Italian dressing which was really good. It tasted of pesto and reminded me of Old Spaghetti Factory’s house dressing. My husband went with the bleu cheese which is his favorite dressing.

For my entree I ordered the Caprese Sandwich, fresh Mozzarella, Roma tomatoes, roasted red bell peppers, marinated artichokes, kalamata olives and capers drizzled with red wine vinaigrette on pretzel bread ($9.99). It was very good and was exactly what I was looking for, something light, refreshing yet flavorful. My husband ordered the Lasagna Rustica, rich meat sauce layered with pasta, Italian sausage, ricotta and Parmesan cheeses, herbs, and a touch of classic bechamel cream ($12.79). It was very good, not as good as real Italian made lasagna but still delicious. It was definitely something that I’d order again.

At the end of our meal our server brought us a sundae for two. It was a basic vanilla ice cream sundae topped with whip cream and a cherry. A nice way to end the meal.

Overall I thought this restaurant was really good. It was nice to only have to share the dining room with one other couple who too happened to be celebrating their 6th anniversary. The restaurant had a nice warm, inviting feel to it. There aren’t many choices of places to dine in Disney’s California Adventure but this one is a good choice.
